Position Summary

The Warehouse Director is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory receiving, storage, order fulfillment, shipping, returns processing, and cycle counting. This position plays a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and exceptional service levels in a fast-paced distribution environment. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong hands-on leadership approach, deep knowledge of warehouse logistics, and a proven ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Oversee daily warehouse operations across all functions including receiving, storage, picking, packing, order fulfillment, shipping, and returns.

Ensure smooth coordination between inbound and outbound activities to maintain flow of goods and optimize warehouse space.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to maximize efficiency and accuracy.

Maintain a high level of safety and cleanliness in compliance with company standards and OSHA regulations.

Inventory Management

Manage inventory control systems to ensure accurate records of stock levels, locations, and movements.

Effectively manage the replenishment process ensuring pick locations are stocked adequately to ensure smooth and efficient order fulfillment.

Lead and coordinate regular cycle counts and physical inventory processes.

Analyze inventory trends and discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, motivate, and develop warehouse managers, supervisors, and associates to ensure a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Set performance goals, monitor KPIs, and conduct regular performance reviews.

Provide ongoing training to enhance team skills in safety, quality control, and productivity.

Order Fulfillment & Customer Service

Ensure all customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.

Collaborate with logistics and transportation teams to meet delivery timelines and cost targets.

Monitor returns processes to minimize errors and improve customer satisfaction.

Process Improvement & Technology

Evaluate and implement warehouse management systems (WMS) and automation solutions to drive process efficiency.

Identify and lead initiatives to reduce operational costs, increase productivity, and support business growth.

Monitor and report on key operational metrics, using data to inform decisions and adjustments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.  Or equivalent work experience.

Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in warehouse and distribution operations, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.

Demonstrated expertise in inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, and returns handling.

Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP software, and Google Suite.

Proven success in leading and developing large, diverse teams in a high-volume warehouse environment.

Experience implementing lean warehousing principles and process improvement methodologies.
