POSITION SUMMARY

The Fulfillment Manager is a leadership role responsible for managing the Fulfillment Department at Baltic Born. This is a very integral part of the foundation of Baltic Born and it is critical that this department is kept flowing in a timely manner, as we strive to stay within a 24 hour order fulfillment window. As a leader at Baltic Born, you are an extension of the owners and expected to maintain an upbeat, drama-free environment for your team. This role includes leading, developing and continually training the team of Baltic Born Fulfillment specialists. It also includes implementing and improving new processes to increase efficiency, being aware of shipping and supply costs, managing cut-off times for pick-ups and express orders, and tracking the metrics of each individual on the team. This role requires confidence, positive energy, good management and organization skills, and a growth mindset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the team of Baltic Born Fulfillment Specialists - pickers, packers and go backs.
  • Communicate expectations to the team and encourage them to be accountable for metrics set in place.
  • Communicate new policies and procedures pertaining to the Fulfillment Department.
  • Identify problems and put actions in place to continuously improve procedures.
  • Review errors with team members and implement procedures to correct errors.
  • Maintain a safe, fair work environment adhering to all company policies as well as OSHA regulations and state and federal labor laws.
  • Maintain adequate staff according to work load, assisting in the interviewing and onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Maintain accurate records on warehouse activities, team member performance, time cards, and attendance etc. and prepare reports for management review.
  • Be aware of shipping costs and budgets, and find ways to save on costs throughout your department, i.e. shipping supplies, optimized processes (saving payroll hours), shipping carrier costs, and any other process in your department.
  • Become familiar with shipping requirements for express, international and domestic orders, paying special attention to weights and dimensions of packages to adhere to any shipping regulations and obtain the best applicable shipping rates.
  • Oversee shipping supplies, ensuring they are always in stock and ordering ahead of time for seasonal order fluctuations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to assist with inventory management and cycle counts.
  • Meet with the Fulfillment Team Leads weekly to discuss goals, metrics and issues needing attention.
  • Work closely with Fulfillment Team Leads to: 
    • Ensure orders are sent out accurately and in a timely manner. Prioritizing express and oldest orders first. 
    • Oversee daily outbound order pickups, and communicate with the individual carrier Reps if there are late or missed pickups
    • Establish daily goals according to the orders in the queue and staffing.
    • Keep the Fulfillment Department and other shared spaces clean and organized.
    • Conduct semi-annual performance reviews with Fulfillment team members using the PerformYard platform.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-5 years of experience leading or managing the fulfillment function in a warehouse.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a large team in a dynamic, fast paced environment and effectively resolve conflicts and other personnel challenges with a discreet and professional approach.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP software, and Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Shopify and ShipHero is a plus
  • Knowledge of warehouse procedures and protocols, lean operating principles and process improvement methodologies.

  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends as work load requires.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time.
